If you’ve been looking at the Madison Kink Calendar, you may have noticed something about it (and if you havent’ been looking at the calendar–why not?!). The calendar includes a lot of events that aren’t really “kinky events”. While Madison has a lot of very creative kinksters, it’s probably safe to say that Brat Fest isn’t about people with a fetish for German sausages

When I first got approached about writing a column about being new to kink, I was excited and figured it would be a walk in the park. After all, my lack of expertise was my strength in this case, and I had been exposed to so much in my two month initiation that I had tons I wanted to write about. I had met many interesting people, had both good experiences and bad, and had a lot of advice to give those also embarking on this journey. This will be fantastic, I thought, a real chance to show what I went through and maybe help someone else also entering into the experience.

You would think that being a part of a counter-culture movement like BDSM would be a place where people could safely feel at home being themselves.  That you would walk into a group setting of people that share an enjoyment of something and that instant friendships would be formed!
